My name is Julie, and I am a 44 year old mother of 2 teenagers. My daughter Erin is 16 years old and my son Dylan is 13. My daughter is deaf, which has put an interesting spin on being a mom. I know that she will have a tough row to hoe, and it makes me admire her. Her courage and joy for life is inspiring and she amazes me every day. My son is your average 13 year old boy whose main interests include watching TV (Smash Lab, Myth Busters, and How They Make It being his favorites), playing video games, playing on the computer, and building models. I feel fortunate that I have 2 very good kids who have so far, made this mothering "thing" fairly easy. Both my kids are very supportive of my choice to try my hand at racing stock cars, and they are at every race cheering me on. My son had the chance to be on my pit crew last season, and he is excited about doing it again this season. My husband Bob has got to be the most tolerant man in the world to be able to put up with all I have put him through. He has paid his dues, believe me! He is the one responsible for buying me my first stock car, a '94 Ford Probe SE. This gift has to be in the Guiness Book of World Records as the "Coolest Mother's Day Gift in History." This will be my third year racing in the "ProHornet" division at Raceway Park and Park Jefferson Speedway. I have played piano for the better part of 40 years, and I spend long hours in the warmer months driving in my convertible with no particular destination in mind.
